Letters to his father, Peter, and brother, Charles, back in Connecticut. Letter, 1832, scolds them for not having written to him since he has been gone, mentions the Indian War, a severe drought, the growth of Jacksonville and the school, his financial situation and the Juvenile Sewing Society awarding him clothing and tuition. Letter, 1833, to brother recalls their unfriendly parting, the death of their mother and other siblings, and the state of his brothers mortal soul. Also the formation of a Congregational Church in Jacksonville, his poverty and help from the Ladies Education Society. Letter, 1834, to father and brother discusses his studies and plans for the future and his work as superintendent at the Sabbath School.
